Hardcover, no DJ. Report #65 to the 38th Congress, 1st Session. Testimony by the sub-committee into the Fort Pillow Massacre April 12, 1864 of surrendered Union troops during the American Civil War. Green cloth boards with gilt lettering on front title as well as plate written in hand of former owner and adhered. Includes 128 pages of the report by the Committee to the chairmen Mr. Gooch and Mr. Wade and Report #67, 38 pages, by the Joint Committe on Returned Prisoners which includes eight illustrations of the returned POW. Edges of boards are bumped, spine ends softened, endpapers have some writing and rippling from water damage as well as additional material pasted in by former owner. Pages are foxed and faintly discolored but well legible. Minor pencil markings to text. Pasadena's premier independent new and used bookstore.
